* Avery The Super Puppy*
Once there was a puppy named Avery. Avery was no ordinary puppy, she was a super puppy with magical powers. Avery was able to chew through metal, run faster than cars, and jump up higher than fences. Avery was always getting into some sort of mischief and driving her owner, Miss Stacy completely crazy!
One morning, Miss Stacy went out to the yard to check on Avery, to her surprise the kennel was empty! She knew that she had put Avery in the kennel the night before, "so where could that little dog be?", she thought. She called out, "Avery", and gave a little whistle. But no Avery. She walked around the kennel to see if Avery had dug out. She came upon a huge hole in the kennel! Now, this kennel was made of thick pieces of metal, "how in the world did this little, cute, sweet puppy chew through metal?", she thought.
Miss Stacy needed to find Avery so she walked out of her yard and down the street a little way to look for her puppy, but there was no Avery. She needed to go back home and get her car if she was going to find Avery anytime soon. She had driven quite a way when she finally spotted her crazy puppy running out in a field with cows and horses. She yelled in a very stern voice, "Avery get over here now!" Avery came running as she was told, but she did not stop running, she out ran Miss Stacy's car and got back to the yard before the car had even pulled into the driveway. Avery had crawled back through the hole and was waiting in the kennel when Miss Stacy walked up, her tail wagging, it was almost as if she was smiling right back at Miss Stacy. Miss Stacy was very upset with Avery. She had to get thicker, and even stronger wire to fix the hole so that Avery wouldn't be able to get out again. So that is just what she did, she fixed the hole and made sure to check for any others so she was sure Avery would not ever get out again!
The next evening, when it was time for Avery to come in for the night, Miss Stacy went out to get her as she did every night. As she stepped out on the porch, she looked over and saw Avery jump up so high, higher than the fence, and off she went. She was out of the yard quicker than Miss Stacy could get to her. Miss Stacy yelled for her to get back but Avery wasn't listening. She had places to go, and cows to chase.
When Miss Stacy found Avery, she was so upset. She knew that something had to be done with this puppy if she was going to keep her. Avery had to behave and start to listen. So Miss Stacy looked through the phone book and found the best, most expensive obedience class in there. She made the appointment for the next morning. "If this doesn't work, nothing will", she thought.
That next morning, they both headed off to the class. Avery was the worst behaved puppy there. All the other puppies were staying with their masters, doing their commands and a few were even beginning to do tricks. Miss Stacy felt so helpless, what was she going to do with this puppy? She knew there would be many more years of this ahead. After all, she had a super puppy on her hands!
